Site Wants/Needs…
1) Shopping cart to have - hyperlink review option
2) shopping cart to have - thumbnail display of item
3) site / cart to be able to dynamically link with our GP (Great

- if not link with GP then with some database of the same, or higher
caliber
4) Items to be able to have variations (length, color, size) – (like you
said)
5) Search field
6) Username Password Login - With wish list, previous orders,

Dave Fox:
multiple user accounts that will determine pricing - the easiest way to
do it, is to have like, tiered accounts - for example, a basic user
account means they'll see regular pricing - vips will get a 10%
discount, dealers will get a 20% etc... - So, discounting the prices by
a percentage, rather than an actual figure if you get me - otherwise
you'd have to enter about 3 or 4 different prices for each product,
which would be a pain in the ass.
Dave Engels:
I can tell you already there is 4 prices that i have to enter & remember
for every product now. *below
The problem with just a simple % off (depending the customer status
level) is that the margins on most items are different. So I don't think
simply raising or lowering a % across the board will work for pricing.
Example: I could not afford give more then 10% on many cheaper items
($0-$30 range) but on an X7, for example i would be happy to sell
between 15% to 20% off (X7 Wholesale: $215 - X7 MAP: $299)
- MAP (to honor ebay/online selling policy *enforced)
- Retail (In store pricing)
- BP (what i refer to as my Best Price)
- Wholesale (what i pay for item)
Thoughts/Ideas:
1) have a “back order it and inform me when it comes in” button (if item is
out of stock)
2) “ready to buy but have questions” feature
> When customers order is in the shopping cart they can click a link and
send a message or an alert (hopefully to make more successful sales and be able to
know exactly what items they have questions about without as much need
for explanation
– quick and to the point)

Dave Engels:
More on the "Ready to buy but have questions" feature -
Inform by email message - not so good - would need to be as immediate as
possible.
(when someone is ready you better be too)
So i was thinking some kind of alert more or less.
Like to skype/msn/sms or something.
(In the text message would maybe like a customer number or pre-invoice number so
we could login from the back end and see what is in their cart and communicate
with them in a message window built into the sight (similar to live message on
ebay) or just give them a call if they would rather speak over the phone.
*maybe even have them use a "guest" skype account - so we could message and/or
speak with them.
(Guest skype account so all a customer has to do is enter the username &
password that we make public for anyone to use - incase they don't have or don't
want to get skype)
This could be a messy problem on a bigger scale (everyone knowing/using the same
username password) but it is just brainstorming.
Maybe there is a program like skype that can be built into the sight (site based
- no installation needed for customer ease) to meet these same kinds of needs.
